Dengue Fever, Beauty World
ArtsCenter, Carrboro
Dengue Fever have apparently never played the Triangle, at least according to my records. It's funny, thanks to multiple crate-digging reissue labels, the market has a lot of pre-Khmer Rouge Cambodian psych/garage-pop to choose from nowadays. But back when Dengue Fever (a handful of white dudes from LA, plus a Cambodian woman they were lucky enough to recruit) started out, ~20 years ago, this stuff was a lot harder to come by, and their albums were met with a sort of befuddled amazement.

Nowadays they release new material on a fairly relaxed schedule, but they're still touring, and they're still essentially the only folks around bringing this nearly-lost music to life onstage.
